The company FE+ from the Belgian town of Olen, which specializes in metalworking and sheet metal processing, laser cutting, welding and construction for companies, took the step into welding automation at the end of 2021 with the purchase of a Valk Welding welding robot system.
FE+ originated as an internal supplier of Laborex process cleaning systems but quickly saw its sales market grow far beyond its parent company. To further strengthen its market position, FE+ started looking at automating the welding process. The main focus was on the production of smaller series and of complex products with a large variety.
For the welding of these parts from steel, stainless steel or aluminum, a Valk Welding FRAME-IT solution was chosen. The FRAME-IT is a compact cell with a Panasonic welding robot at a fixed position and two workstations which, by means of a turntable, can be rotated in and out of the welding robot cell.
By being able to quickly switch between welding jigs and between the different MIG/MAG and TIG welding robot torches, it is possible to process different welding processes and a large variety of products and materials on the same robot installation. This gives FE+, as a supplier, enormous flexibility and the possibility to produce 'on demand' in small series.
