In March 2026, Valk Welding celebrates its 65th anniversary.
Over the past decades, our company has grown, innovated, and evolved through many milestones — both technical and organizational. On this page, you can explore a timeline that highlights some of the key developments that have shaped who we are today. While 65 years naturally hold far more events than we can list, this overview gives you a curated selection of the most defining moments in our history.
LAS Verkoopmaatschappij is established as an agency of Cloos Schweisstechnik Germany.
LAS Verkoopmaatschappij opens establishments in Belgium and expands its sales area to the entire Benelux region.
LAS Verkoopmaatschappij starts the automation of the arc welding process, and the first special appliances are delivered in the Benelux region, mainly to the agricultural machinery industry. This first step towards automation is followed by robotisation ten years later.
The first Unimation hydraulic robots are launched on the Benelux market through Cloos Germany.
The first hydraulic Unimation robot in the Netherlands is delivered to the Dutch firm Kemi. This is a robot for welding applications. LAS Verkoopmaatschappij acquires the dealership for IGM in the Benelux region.
Relocation from The Hague to the current location in Alblasserdam.
LAS Verkoopmaatschappij starts Valk Inc. as a subsidiary for the sales of IGM robots in the USA. Remco H. Valk moves to the USA to run this company.
Valk Welding started as independent supplier of Welding Wire, including the partnership with C.I.F.E.
LAS Verkoopmaatschappij celebrates its 25th anniversary. This marks the change of name from LAS Verkoopmaatschappij to Valk Welding, mainly in order to simplify international contacts.

The Panasonic agency in the Benelux was established following Remco H. Valk’s visit to Panasonic in Japan.
The partnership between Cloos Schweisstechnik and Valk Welding ends.
The major breakthrough in the field of arc welding robots has become a reality. The huge success at the 1990 Techni Show, where more than 50 Panasonic welding robots were sold, marks the definitive breakthrough of Panasonic welding robots. This is mainly because they offered a competitive alternative to the more expensive European brands of that time.
The DTPS offline programming system is successfully installed at a customer’s company for the first time.
Valk Welding acquires the exclusive rights to the ARC-EYE CSS from Oxford Sensor Technology (OST). The ARC-EYE CSS (Circular Scanning Sensor) guides the robot in real time during welding and continuously tracks the exact weld seam. Where traditional weld seam detection stops, ARC-EYE CSS continues.
We insourced the production of welding equipment by acquiring a production facility in Nieuwegein, which we named Valk Welding Precision Parts. Valk Welding Precision Parts manufactures its own welding equipment for robotic welding systems. As a technological partner, Valk Welding handles all aspects in this field, with customised welding torches often proving to be the key to successful projects.
Valk Welding launches ARP (Automatic Robot Programming). ARP software automatically generates and simulates welding programmes from 3D CAD files or other information sources, which significantly reduces programming time and required expertise.
RWAAS is introduced. RWAAS stands for Robot Welding As A Service and offers a unique all-in service package from Valk Welding. For a fixed monthly fee, you get a welding robot system, including all needed Welding Wire and consumables, without an investment upfront. It opens the door to automation for many welding companies.

We like to think along with you in finding solutions for your (welding) automation, welding wires and welding accessories. We are looking for the connection and prefer to be a partner rather than a supplier.
