ISO certification for RWAAS

Valk Welding is proud to announce a significant milestone: our advanced robotic system RWAAS (Robot Welding as a Service) and welding wire have been officially certified in accordance with the international standard EN ISO 15614-1:.

Valk Welding achieves ISO Procedure Qualification certification for automated welding with RWAAS.

This qualification confirms that our welding procedures meet the standards for quality, safety, and repeatability — a crucial step in advancing industrial welding automation. And more importantly: Customers working with EN1090-2 EXC2 have a plug and play solution with the RWAAS system and Valk welding wire.

What does this certification entail?

The EN ISO 15614-1 standard is globally recognized as the benchmark for qualifying welding procedures for metallic materials. It sets out stringent requirements for how welded joints are prepared, executed, and tested, including:
• Mechanical properties of the weld, such as hardness and strength
• Visual and penetrant testing to detect any defects
• Material compatibility and welding parameters, including heat input, wire diameter, and shielding gases

The qualification was carried out by Valk Welding and the renowned Schweißtechnische Lehranstalt Koblenz, in collaboration with the Handwerkskammer Koblenz Service GmbH. The comprehensive test program included both destructive and non-destructive examinations, such as:
• Visual inspection (ISO 17637)
• Penetrant testing (ISO 3452)
• Macrosection analysis (ISO 17639)
• Hardness testing (ISO 9015-1)

All tests were successfully passed without any deviations ("o.B."), confirming full compliance with the required standards.

What does this mean for RWAAS?

RWAAS is our modular robotic system that enables companies to automate flexibly, scalably, and cost-effectively — without the need for major upfront investments. With this certification, customers can be confident that the welding procedures performed via RWAAS are:
• Consistently high in quality
• Compliant with international standards
• Suitable for structural applications according to EN1090-2 EXC-2

Whether for serial production, custom fabrication, or welding of critical components — RWAAS now delivers performance that is officially certified.

Why is this important?

In an era where traceability, quality assurance, and compliance are increasingly vital, this certification provides added assurance for our customers. It enables them to:
• Start welding immediately using a pre-qualified procedure
• Meet client and audit requirements
• Operate in line with global standards
• Rely on the integrity of their welded joints

Compliance with DIN EN ISO 1090-2?

Our ISO 15614-1 qualification supports compliance with EN 1090-2 Execution Class 2, the European standard for steel structures in construction. This means the certified welding procedures used in RWAAS can be applied in projects where EN 1090-2 requirements for EXC2— such as CE marking for structural components — are mandatory. In short: customers can rely on RWAAS not only for quality and repeatability, but also for meeting essential building standards across Europe.
